Our Vision

A Communal Gateway to Our National Parks

The parklet hopes to reach urban populations and tell them about urban and wilderness parks nearby and further away. The goal of the interactive components is to draw people in to share stories that they have had within and around the national parks. Other community members can find inspiration in these stories and learn about locations that they might otherwise not have encountered.

In addition to a map where people will connect stories, the trailer will include a large landscape painting in the back to help people imagine themselves in the wilderness landscape.

There are also digital components to the trailer, including interactive kiosks and a moving digital floor. The kiosks will present information about local parks, including videos and maps. The floor will project moving landscapes, from dirt to road to clouds, helping people transport themselves to the future locations they will visit.

An early sketch of the trailer shows the floor board where people can add stories of past or future trips to national park sites and connect them to a map of the area. Also sketched are the digital kiosks that will share more interactive content about the local national park experiences.
